Meet
"Denver" the station 6 mascot. Named
after the "Denver Tool" used by
firefighters to gain forcable entry, Denver
joined the station 6 family as a one year
old harlequin Great Dane. He was rescued from
the Animal Rescue League of Pittsburgh in
February of 2000 where he was malnourished
and hungry for love and attention. Assistant
Chief Corye Ramsey fell in love with him the
moment he saw him and thought he would be
the perfect mascot for Monroeville Fire Dept
No. 6. He was right. Denver took to station
life immediately and won the hearts of the
firefighters. The gentel giant is extremely
well behaved and loved by all.
In
June 2008, Denver passed on with members on
hand to comfort him after months of his health
decreasing and old age catching him. Denver
was a one-of-a-kind mascot and will be greatly
missed by all members of the department. Rest
in Peace, Denver!
