Vehicle Fire
April
3, 2007
During
the evening, Communications received a request for
a fire response from Turnpike Communications for
a reported vehicle fire on the Pennsylvania Turnpike
MM 60.1 Eastbound. Due to Companies 4 and 5 being
on another call, crews from Companies 6 and 3 were
alerted to fill the assignment. In addition to E62
and E31 running the call, E51 and C40 (Chief Cole)
were also able to respond. Units arrived to find
a passenger vehicle fully involved on the shoulder.
E51 deployed a line and with assistance from E62's
crew and several Class D fire extinguishers, extinguished
the fire while E31 stood by at the interchange.
